Immunotherapy for Alzheimer's disease and other dementias:

Vaccination trials were very successful in animal models, but could not be transferred to people. Now, "passive immunotherapy" is in Phase 3 trials in North America and around the world. This involves infusion of antibiodies against the plaques that cause Alheimer's disease and possibly cause memory changes in normal aging. Preliminary data are very promising. At least 6 trials are underway in North America. If successful, immunotherapy could be available within 2 years! This would not only stop progression, but might even "heal" damaged neurons and thereby improve a person's function.

We have been optimistic before, only to be disappointed, but we at A.G.E. Matters are eternally optimistic that treatments will be found.
